Security

Security module is a plug-in software for Windows Media Services. It provides media files access management and protects your valuable streaming contents from illicit users’ access. Security module allows Windows Media Services to authenticate users using your own database that support OLEDB, such as MySQL Server and MSSQL Server.

Security seamlessly integrates user authentication, file authorization and event notification plug-ins in Windows Media Services.  It can be configured to provides many features, such as token access, free access, dictionary attack protection, connection attack protection, membership, pay-per-view, pay-per-minute and more, to help you rapidly develop a secure e-commerce streaming system

Standard Features include:

  • Validate users using TokenID without using/checking against database.
  • Multiple configurations for different publish points.
  • URL string matching for free access.
  • Automatically update configurations.
  • Authenticate username/password Form Logon using OLEDB database.
  • Updates intensive reports to OLEDB database. It provides play time; sent bytes, play stats, duration and more.
  • Limited Concurrent Logon: Multiple persons using the same username and password are detected and prevented from login at the same time. This prevents illicit users from posting their usernames and password on the web.
  • Dictionary Attack Protection (DAP): Protects the logon form from subversive dictionary attack programs. Dictionary attack programs run through a list of dictionary words, attempting to find a username and password combination that works.
  • Limited contents by IP address in a given time. Blocking the IP address of web spider to prevent it from crawling the whole site and stealing media files.
  • Limit concurrent connections to the same account.
  • Database Connection Attack Program (CAP): prevent users from sending authorization requests to bring down the database server.
  • Parse URL arguments to EXPORT PARAM for Authorization and Reports.
  • Change Realm in the logon dialog box.
  • Disconnect user for Pay-Per-Minute. Module disconnects the user when the viewing time is up. Max. number depends on server hardware, load and bandwidth.
  • Retrieve USERNAME in Authorization SQL command or Form Login Prompt.
  • Option to grant access permission when database server is down.  This option provides no-disconnected streaming service to your customers even when database server or internal network is down.
